A composite material can be defined as a mixture of two or more mechanically separable materials that when combined give properties superior to the individual components.
There are two constituent parts of a composite Orthoses
- Provides reinforcement to the resin
- Provides the strength and Stiffness
- Supports the fibres – maintaining orientation
- Bonds the fibres – transfers applied loads to the fibres
